Mandalas and Moscato

Join Cities 97 and Minnesota Makers for a morning art class! Attendee will learn to paint Mandalas on stones and enjoy a Moscato (age 21+) provided by Barefoot Wines. This class is fun, simple and will let your creativity flow through the magic of Mandalas. Mandala means “circle” and symbol the wholeness of life.

Ticketed event in the big tent in Father Hennepin Park near the Stone Arch Bridge. Ticket price includes instruction, supplies and a beverage. Advance purchase is recommended, seating is limited. $22 in advance, $25 on site.

Take a Tour of the St. Anthony Falls Labratory

The St. Anthony Falls Laboratory is an interdisciplinary fluid mechanics research center and education facility under the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Built in 1938, the Lab takes advantage of its unique position near St. Anthony Falls to divert and direct river water through the building for use in experiments and research. A tour through the facility will not only give attendees an appreciation for the Lab’s history and unique setting but also showcase its ongoing research and experiments that look to address many of society’s major environmental challenges.

Expect the tour to run 1 hour.

 


National Park Service

Step across the Stone Arch Bridge and experience Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam like never before. Tour the visitor center, walk on the lock wall, enjoy panoramic views of the falls and festival, interact with National Park Service rangers, and discover the history and impact of the falls. Open house on Saturday, June 16  from 10am-7pm hosted by the National Park Service and Mississippi Park Connection. The information booth near the Stone Arch Bridge in Fr. Hennepin Park is sponsored by the National Park Service, stop by for more information.

StarTribune Ugly Tie 5K Fun Run

Join us on Father’s Day for the Ugly Tie 5K fun run along the scenic historic Mississippi riverfront in downtown Minneapolis. Wear the ugliest tie you can find and bring the whole family. In addition to the 5K race there will be a kids Half-K run followed by music, snacks and great prizes for the ugliest ties at Father Hennepin Park.

Save a life and learn your type with Memorial Blood Centers at the Fest’s annual blood drive! Saturday and Sunday, 11:30am-4pm on the Merriam St. Bridge. Blood typing offered throughout! YogaFit

Get yourself ready for day the right way! YogaFit will lead a yoga class from the Star Tribune Stage on Sat & Sun mornings. All are welcome to join this FREE 30 min class from 11 am  – 11:30 am on Sat & Sun.
