The festival is located on the Minneapolis Riverfront next to Owamniyuomni (St. Anthony Falls) on the traditional homelands of the Dakota people. We recognize the original peoples of this land and acknowledge that it comes from a legacy of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced removal caused by U.S. law and policy applied to indigenous communities. We recognize indigenous peoples’ histories, diverse cultures, and rich traditions in arts and craftsmanship. Indigenous people continue to reside in this area and have made innumerable contributions to the Minneapolis community.
